Studied M.Sc. Botany from Meerut University, B.Ed. from Jamia Millia University and LL.B. from Delhi University. Was associated with Navayug School for three years before joining training with Customs and Central Excise for three years ( 1981 batch). Retired as Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh on 31.01.2014

Has been actively engaed with youth for thier education, holistic development and participation in democratic values. Upliftment and empowerment of weaker sections and tribal people has been his area of priority during service. He sepecialises in Management of Left wing Extremism.
