Career brief:

 

Studied B.Sc. (Home Science) from Lady Irwin College, Delhi. Then went for M.A. English,  Himachal university. Completed M.Ed. Also from Himachal University. Later more qualifications such as Diploma Public Relations from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Delhi, Diploma in Naturopathy and Yoga – Lajpat Bhawan , Delhi, Teachers training in Yoga from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Delhi, One year certificate course in Urdu from Urdu Academy Delhi. Certificate course in Indian Culture and Arts – National  Museum, Delhi,  'Holistic Living’ from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Delhi

 

27 years teaching experience, of which 24 years as Home Science teacher in Navayug school,  very prestigious , progressive, senior secondary school for gifted children. She was one of the founder teachers, Joined in Feb,1973 and took voluntary retirement in 1997. Besides teaching, have been  actively involved in number of activities, been in-charge of  CBSC examination, Senior House Master, initiated a number of  Community service projects. She also has been Resource person  with NCERT  for Work Experience, and for framing  the curriculum for Navodaya Vidyalyas.


Represented the country at the Red Cross Youth institute held in Seoul, Korea, as Teacher Counsellor for Youth Red Cross. Also visited Japan, Thialand and Phillipines to study Youth Red Cross activities.

She is an ‘A’ Grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan for more than five decades. Started performing in Radio Plays as a child artiste and since then has participated in more than two thousand Plays/ programmes. Many of her plays won national awards. Had the honour of giving live commentary on Radio for the Republic Day Parade. Has participated in Radio
programmes for CIET,  NCERT and IGNOU. She has also done Voice over and dubbing for some TV Programmes on Discovery channel, National Geography, BBC, etc.

She has done many plays on doordarshan, performed lead roles in Munshi Premchand’ Nirmala’ and Jainender kumar’s ‘ Tyag patra’ and many other plays. She performed in the first soap opera ‘ Ham Log’ on TV and few other serials. She used to read parliament news on doordarshan.

She is in the Panel of Judges for auditions/voice test for radio programmes. Has been compering for some stage performances of Dance, Music, for Gazal singers like Jagjit  Singh and others. Whenever NDMC had a VIP coming for some function she was invited to be the Master of ceremonies.

 

Awards

  • Received ‘Adharshila’ award for contribution to Radio Drama

 

Charity Work 

  • Currently she is the Director ‘ Turning Point’ ( Centre for Positive Transformation)  where she conducts workshops in Personality Development, Public Speaking, counseling, Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation.

  • She teaches/ educates children from the slums, also take care of their health and hygiene.

  • She helps senior citizens to lead an active, healthy, happy and dignified life.

  • Often she is invited by various organizations like Rotary, Women’s International club, various schools to speak on  Naturopathy, yoga,  pranayam, Public speaking and Ageing Gracefully.

  • She also served as a doctor Naturopathy and Yoga at Lajpat Bhawan, New Delhi, for two years.

  • She holds classes and workshops in Naturopathy and Yoga.

  • She has been a Rotarian for the last 25 years and has been president of club and also Assistant Governor, in district 3010 ( now 3011)
